| My
Computer is beeping! What do I do? |
Computer beep codes can mean several different
things,. When you turn a computer on it checks
some of the vital hardware required to run the
machine, This includes the MEMORY (RAM), the
GRAPHICS CARD, and CPU.
In many cases when one of
our machines arrives "beeping", it is due to
components coming loose in transit, if possible, try
re-seating the RAM and expansion cards, If you have
a Pentium II or Pentium III slot processor, it could
also be worth re-seating that as these components
often come out of place during transport |

My Computer says there
is no boot device available or that there is an
"invalid operating system" or that there is no
operating system installed |
All our machines have
their hard drives low level formatted as part of our
data destruction and refurbishing process.
Unless you have specifically requested and paid for
an operating system, your PC will be supplied blank
and you will need to purchase a copy of Windows or
download an appropriate free Linux distribution.
If you are trying to install an operating system
from CD or bootable floppy disk and these erros are
showing, please ensure your computer is set up to
boot from the CD-Rom first by checking the boot
order in the BIOS, this can be accessed when your
machine is first powered on, press either "DEL, F1
or F2" when prompted to press the appropriate key to
enter setup. In most BIOS's the boot order
will be in the "advanced settings" tab, the "boot
order" tab or the "startup" tab. If you are at
all unsure what you are doing, please do NOT make
any changes to the settings and call our Tech team
on 0870 728 1918

My
Operating System is installed but when windows loads
up, the display is really big and it won't let me
change my screen resolution or colour depth. |
You
don't have your graphics driver set up or it is set
up incorrectly. In many cases Windows Update
is able to update your system with Microsoft
Digitally Signed drivers.
PLEASE
NOTE; Windows Update uses Microsoft Genuine
Advantage anti piracy software, if you do not have
an officially registered copy of Windows then use of
Windows Update can disable your Operating System, WE
WILL NOT offer support for illegal installations of
Windows, if you wish to buy a genuine copy of
Windows please call our shop team on 0800 138 3556 |

Windows will not play
any sounds at all |
This could be either
because your speakers are plugged into the wrong
output (ensure they are plugged into the green
output on your sound card (NOT the one on the
modem). If you have more than one green 3.5mm
audio socket then it is likely that one of then is
for the modem.
The other possibility is that your sound card is not
installed correctly. Please ensure that your
drivers are installed and that the system volume is
not muted. |
